SOme thoughts on today...

Tried everything Apple's Tech support has recommended regardig an inability of Apple'ws built-in Mial Service to deliver mail to local recipients....this included going into the NetInfo database and making sure all the settings between the accounts that worked and the ones that didn't were the same; they were. We even deleted the offending user and re-created it, all to no avail. It seems there's a file somewhere that the software keeps looking to, something that is independent of the userfiles or user directories.

So next step is to call Apple for a THIRD time and see what else they might have up their sleeve.....I'm not too optimistic. We'll see.

on the home front we surveyed the damage form the storm that hit us a few weeks ago....Both crabapple trees in the backyard look like they'll make it, although they'll definitely lose some of their larger branches. The liliacs seems to have rebounded, too. The Maple out front didn't even notice the three-plus feet of snow we got.

word to the wise:

even though apple's nice GUI won't make it obvious, you still have to follow UNIX naming conventions (like NO SPACES between words) when naming things, like, say, fiolders that your server needs to direct mail to....and don't count o Apple Tech support to remind you, either. grr......

well, looks like it's back to work day, after a couple of snowbound days.....with three feet of snow, though, most people are still waiting on plows to come dig their side streets out.

well, we just finished the first of three weekends of shooting for our short film. Exhausting work, but it's a great team of people and we're having fun.

the outlook for our all-exterior-shot schedule next weekend looks good, too....clear skies, and no snow.
