YIPPEE!

The darkroom is FINISHED!

Just finished developing the first sheets of film. It's nice and dark, just like it should be.

Today's hero: the Decaf Mocha, made fresh from the Miele built-in Espresso machine.

By the way, if it's not made with powdered chocolate, it's not a real mocha. This is why all the Mochas at Starbucks and Peaberry's taste too sweet...they use chocolate syrup.

My heroes of the day:

the Blockbuster Video store on 32nd and youngfield for having a DVD widescreen version of "Guess Who's Coming to Dinner?",

The inventor of the Air-powered Finish Nailer (as opposed to the air-powered Finnish Nailer, many of whom are currently busy building IKEA stores in Scandanavia, I supose),

the wonderful cartographers at Michelin, who gave us such gems as the 2003 Michelin Road Guide to North America.

Working on getting non-OS X applications to print in Postscript through OS X.....there's a nifty print driver tool called "Gimp-Print" that works nicely....if only I cold get it to work correctly! Why Quark couldn't have made v. 5.0 OS X-native is beyond me....they would've even persuaded me to buy a full copy!

Feeling a bit under the weather today....what is the cure for this season's bug? Rest? Food? Overwork? I'm going to try the latter....

Favorite quote of the day comes from Tom Waits:
All your cryin' don't do no good
Come on up to the house
Well come down off the cross, we can use the wood
Come on up to the house

I love the dt and dd tags today... If you've never used 'em, check them out in your handy O'Reilly HTML guide.

What a day! Lots of HTML in there.....

Congrats to one of the best Pressmen in Denver: Ed at Hotchkiss is retiring, and it couldn't happen to a better guy. Congrats, Ed!

Ed probably has more printing knowledge in his little toe than I'll ever have....

Well, I've more or less made the upgrade to Mac OS X.....not entirely painless, but only one crash in the last 24 hours, and I attribute that to a Norton Installer, not the OS.

The only thing so far that sucks is Apple's implementation of a Calendar program, called iCal. It's slow, and no matter how much I beg and plead, will not import my Entourage calendar information, despite a setting in iCal that theoretically allows you to do just that.

My G4 server (which will soon be hosting this very website) arrived safe and sound fresh from an eBay auction. It's "only" 400 MHz, but has a nice 10 gig hard drive and 256Megs of RAM....plenty of room to move for a webserver....

I've also installed OS 10.2.1 on it, which is the first exposure I've had to the "new" Mac OS. It's very nice, easy to use, and it's very much into self-configuring hardware and pesky things like TCP/IP settings for you.

Today's love: Clients who actually pay!

This is not to distinguish them from pro bono clients, but rather from theoretically paying Clients who never seem to get around to getting the check into the mail. C'mon guys, you can do it! I believe in you!

HTML coding sure is fun! At least since I used to do it all by hand (way back in 1993, no less) I actually KNOW what the structure is supposed to look like...Doesn't make it any less tedious, though.
