So, I've got Marcel, as I've chosen to name my new PowerBook G4, up and running. Just a few minor hiccups, but as anyone who works with Macs for 8 hours a day knows, making a transition --even on a Mac-- can be a bit of a chore. After the initial unpacking, there was the migration of all my program and document files over to the Marcel from my old Mac. And then about one GigaByte of software update downloads. And then getting the external monitor to play nice with the video output from Marcel. But it's all in tip-top shape now, and I actually got a little work done.

Initial impressions? It's really fast, at least compared to my 5 year-old PowerBook. And having the video memory available to power both Marcel's screen and the external monitor (and have them not mirror each other) allows me to have e-mail, chat, etc. open on the smaller screen, and keeps my big monitor free for page layout, web code, and branding strategy research.
